![]() Although, let me again mention that the plot takes a high note somewhere in the between of the book but after a certain point it’s all obvious. I like Ware’s writing, which I find efficient, well-paced and unobtrusive. The author also tried adding layers to characters, which definitely did not work. Moreover, Ware tried to introduce some kind of character arc in the last chapters but it did not work for me. ![]() So I was not surprised when I did not see any character arc. I don’t look for character development in a thriller novel. Partly because the book started off really well and was great till 50% of the book. At some point, it was far better but the climax of this book kind of spoiled the adrenaline rush, I was waiting for some Ruth Ware twist. If you’ve read And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie, you’ll see that the plot does look like it but it’s not. I did enjoy reading this book but I would be lying if I said this book kept me on the edge of my seat. Now, imagine all of this again except this time you’re stuck in the chalet due to an avalanche, a few of your colleagues dead (or murdered), phone lines cut, power cut, with no hope of getting help from outside. ![]() Imagine that you’re skiing through the snow, serene. ![]() ![]() Imagine yourself spending a weekend in a rustic mountain chalet, with your friends or colleagues.
